Who are we?

Hayden Robotics is a collective of 40+ students dedicated to education within the field of STEAM.  We operate out of Burlington, Ontario, from Dr Frank J Hayden Secondary School. Our club features 4 individual teams, consisting of numerous programmers, builders, designers and a singular business lead. All students come together to form a robot that adheres to the terms applicable to the FTC competitions. Following such, teams compete with other schools in order to receive recognition at various FTC tournaments.

Our teams work earnestly to create their robots, they begin planning at the beginning of the school year and typically finish by mid-November. All students are welcome to join and we invite students of all grades to grow their skills within our teams!

What is First Robotics?

FIRST® was founded by Dean Karmen in March of 1989.  This organization was created to inspire young minds to be leaders and innovators of science and technology.  FIRST® runs many programs and competitions for youth from 4-18 years of age. For example, the First Lego League for children ages 4-16, the, the First Robotics Competition for ages 14-18, and finally the First Tech Challenge for ages 12-18.

First® Tech Challenge

Every year, students from grades 7-12 participate in a new robotics game and compete head to head with other teams.  The students work together with teachers, mentors and coaches to design, build, program and operate robots. Teams work together to overcome obstacles and meet challenges. They develop many life skills such as collaboration, brainstorming, researching and creative problem-solving.
